Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I qualify for Home Health Services?
- In order to qualify for home health services, your physician first will need to provide our staff specific orders. Our staff will work with your physician to ensure the orders qualify for reimbursement by either Medicare, Medicaid, or your private insurance carrier. If necessary, our staff will contact your insurance carrier to receive the prior authorization or necessary approvals of the home care ordered by your physician. Once we have the proper physician orders and insurance approvals, we will contact you to arrange a convenient time to complete a home visit and schedule subsequent visits by our staff.
- Who will visit me?
- Our Clinical Director will schedule a licensed nurse to complete your initial evaluation. At that visit, she will assign our nurses and home health aides to your case. You always have the option of requesting certain specific staff if they are available.
- I have Medicare, how do I qualify for services?
- In order to qualify for home health care services under the Medicare program, you must meet the Homebound criteria. Medicare allows you to leave your home for physician care or other medical services, as well as attending a worship service. Otherwise, the federal government expects that it would take considerable and taxing effort for the beneficiary to leave the home in order to receive home health care services. If you are able to drive to the grocery store daily, leave your home for nonmedical appointments, visit family or friends out of town, etc then you would not meet the Homebound definition and not be eligible for home care services provided by Medicare and would need to consider other payor sources for your home care needs.
